"We were in a bind for Christmas. I had been in real estate and left for Afghanistan when the real estate market tanked in 2008. We werent going to have much of a Christmas at all since any money we had went to paying bills. When the Sears Heroes at Home Program came through it helped us give something to our kids and provide for them. Bailed us out. My wife and I were able to get clothes and toys for our 9 and 14 year-old sons. This kind of program definitely makes us feel like our sacrifice is worth it. It validates what we do, and helps us feel that what we do is not done in vain. It shows us that there are some grateful people out there."
