Passengers on a grounded flight between Spain and Scotland were spared a long delay by one of their own on July 5.
A passenger who works as an aircraft engineer for Thomson Airways, a competing service, came forth and offered to help fix the problem. After confirming his credentials, the technician was allowed to work on the plane.
His fellow passengers gave him a round of applause when he came back to the cabin after fixing the plane. It took off shortly thereafter, avoiding the delay.
"It was reassuring to know the person who had fixed it was still on the airplane," said passenger Keith Lomax. "What are the odds of something like that happening?"
